Highlights: The Winter South Island Adventure is well adapted to suit the cooler conditions. Enjoy two incredible multi-day guided backpacking trips to alpine hot pools, glaciers and remote snowfields. Take on some of the best day hikes in the country and head out for unforgettable sea kayaking and biking, or if you prefer, a couple of days of skiing or snowboarding in the mountains surrounding Queenstown. There are plenty of options so the trip suits everyone.

Day 1: Begin tour in Christchurch. Hike at Mount John and on the shores of Lake Tekapo. Stat at Ohau Lodge.

Day 2: Hiking options at Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, or skiing options at Ohau Ski area.

Day 3: Start two-day hike in Mount Aspiring National Park, staying at backcountry hut. Or stay in Wanaka and do optional activities.

Day 4: Hike out of mountains and meet up with group in Wanaka. Drive on to Queenstown.

Day 5: Free day in Queenstown.

Day 6: Begin three-day option of either cycling and kayaking at Milford Sound and Lake Manapouri, or skiing/snowboarding in Queenstown region.

Day 7: Continue optional kayaking/cycling or skiing/snowboarding.

Day 8: Final day of kayaking/cyling or skiing/snowboarding option. Meet up with group in Queenstown and drive on to Makarora.

Day 9: Begin three-day experience including hiking into hot pools nestled in the Copland Valley.

Day 10: Day of hiking up valley to Douglas Rock or relaxing at hut in hot pools.

Day 11: Return hike down valley back to Fox Glacier for walk to glacier face. Drive onto Okarito Lagoon.

Day 12: Sea kayaking at Okarito Lagoon, viewing native birds and wildlife. Coastal hiking.

Day 13: Hokitika pounamu (jade/greenstone) carving. Hike Inland Pack Track from Punakaiki. Pancake Rocks and blowhole.

Day 14: Depart Punakaiki for Christchurch, crossing Arthur's Pass. Return to Christchurch approximately 3:00pm.
