so happy I decided to do this
Great being with cool people. I had a whale of a time!!! I haven't been as happy and fulfilled for ages as I was during the last 10 days! It was great and I am so happy I decided to do this!!Yvonne - Switzerland
happiest days ever
Thank you for some of my happiest days ever and sharing some of the many special places NZ offers - didn't expect so much from 10 days.Anja - England

good variety of hiking areas
Excellent trip - good variety of hiking areas and mix of easy and more strenuous days.Susan - UK
surprised by the beauty of the North Island
I was amazingly surprised by the beauty of the North Island which is usually described as "not so spectacular" compared to the South. I genuinely enjoyed every moment. Excellent balance and diversity in the choice of activities and sceneries.Ivano - Italy
The small and unknown places are GREAT
The whole trip was excellent even when we got wet spirits remained high, difficult not to with Graham around. This is such a great way of experiencing and travelling around New Zealand seeing the parts where the tourists do not go. The small and unknown places are GREAT!Sandra - UK
All with great company
Doing things I never thought I could do: the mountains, kayaking, roughing it! All with great company!Samantha - Australia
belly-flop like a salmon up the waterfalls
Thank you, thank you for pushing me up the mountains, into the kayak and down the cave. No one can belly-flop like a salmon up the waterfalls in the cave like me!Kerrie - UK
This was an excellent 10 day hike and fun. This the best way to explore New Zealand.
Jeff - USA
I loved it all
I loved it all - the soft sand beaches and the turquoise water, Jurassic like forests and the Emerald Lakes, native Maori culture, and native NZ ecology - and wonderful people!!! Thanks ever so much.Holly - Massachussetts, USA
I strongly recommend travelling with HNZ
I just finished experiencing the REAL New Zealand with - Hiking New Zealand. I strongly recommend travelling with HNZ while in the North Island. Do not be brainwashed into believing that you have to rush through the North Island to get south because that is where everything is. The North Island has so much to offer, and HNZ will share all the special places that makes New Zealand so wonderful. You will experience changing landscapes, from beaches to forests to mountains, and exposed to early cultures. All this will be with a very experienced and knowledgeable guide. This is a relaxing, stress-free trip with great people, in great places at an excellent value. Experience it!Mary Yaros - USA
EXCELLENT trip in all aspects
Volcanoes & Rainforest Safari - EXCELLENT trip in all aspects - I could leave N.Z. now after only the North Island and would feel I'd seen the REAL N.Z...Instead I'm heading South to do the "West Coast Wilderness" trip. Everyone says the North Island has little to offer - Hiking New Zealand proved that completely wrong. Their remote tramps and tracks offer incredible adventure, each day marked by spectacular sights, wilderness, exercise, laughter, knowledge, characters, great sleep and SUPERB FOOD. If your are reading this to decide if Hiking New Zealand is a great idea - it's BETTER than TERRIFIC. Take the trip. You'll LOVE IT!!! Good luck with many more Volcanoes & Rainforest Safaris. Thanks.Mike Kennedy - Canada
I felt more like a guest than a tourist
I took the Hiking New Zealand Tour of the North Island and wholeheartedly recommend it. Our guide had that especially rare combination of qualities - coolness and professionalism. The tour takes a small scale, intimate approach to exploring "the outdoors" and the cultural aspects of the North Island. I felt more like a guest than a tourist. If you're interested in camping, seeing hot springs and cascading hot water rivers, checking out caves and seeing glow-worms, having the best chocolate eclairs in New Zealand, and learning a heck of a lot about geology, birds and about NZ culture from a real live Kiwi- I thoroughly recommend this tour. I only had one week to spend in New Zealand. I can't imagine a better way to spend it than on a Hiking New Zealand trip. My only regret is that I didn't have a chance to continue the tour on the South Island.Tom - USA
I will never forget this week
It had been a long time ago since I enjoyed myself so much as I did this week. We had a very nice group, with people from Canada, USA and Germany. We did some very exciting things together, things which I would never have done by myself. Like climbing volcanoes, sleeping on a beautiful beach, and caving - that was really very special for me. Malcolm told (taught) me a lot about nature, like trees, birds (and humans!). I will never forget this week. Thanks Malcolm.Jan - Holland
FANTASTIC
After experiencing your Volcanoes & Rainforest Safari, one word sums up the trip, "FANTASTIC". Many thanks Malcolm for an outstanding incite into the New Zealand few travelers see, the secret places. I have enjoyed jokes and laughter, great food and wines, hikes and swims in hot pools plus wonderful views. Hope the safaris will be as good in the South Island.John - England
A wonderful tour through a wonderful country
A wonderful tour through a wonderful country with wonderful people in the group and, last but not least, a wonderful guide! Danke schon, for everything. You've never lost your good mood, even if some people sometimes ask too much about trees!Andreas - Germany
the most enjoyable and rewarding time
I did the Volcanoes & Rainforest Safari March last year, with a a group of ten people and a guide called Karen. The ten days we were travelling, were without a doubt the most enjoyable and rewarding time I spent in NZ. I highly recomend anyone who is thinking of hiking in NZ to go on this safari!Paul Passey - England signed on February 27, 2002
the cheepest and best way to explore the real New Zealand
Absolutely loved the adventure of both the Volcanoes & Rainforest trip and the West Coast Wilderness Adventure. Trekking, tramping and hiking is by far the cheepest and best way to explore the real New Zealand. I'm coming back again for more.....Kathryn Vassallo - Australia signed on February 26, 2002
