The Gables Bed and Breakfast

Ian and Paula welcome you to ‘The Gables’, a charming and historic residence situated close to all Picton's attractions and amenities. A leisurely amble takes you to the splendid foreshore area, or a selection of restaurants, pubs, shops, and supermarkets. Likewise, close to hand are the boating marina, water taxis, trains, and the ferry terminal. The magnificent walks overlooking Marlborough Sounds and the harbour are literally on your doorstep.

The Gables offer three comfortable rooms with their own bathrooms, and a cosy lounge/dining area where your breakfast is served, and where you can plan your day, write postcards home, or just put your feet up and relax. Healthy and comprehensive continental breakfasts are served, but for those whose appetites are still not replete, scrambled eggs with feta and herbs served with smoked salmon is a speciality.

In addition there are two attractively appointed, self contained cottages on the property. Each has a kitchenette/lounge area with a foldout settee and TV. The separate bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms are appealingly decorated in period style, and there is a small private veranda to sit and soak up the sun whilst having a quiet read.

Room types:

The Pictonion a spacious room with a local tone, it has a firm queen bed, en suite bathroom, and tea and coffee making facilities.

The Mariner with a light nautical feel, this room offers airy quarters, with a firm queen bed and single bed, private bathroom across the hallway (bathrobes supplied), and tea and coffee making facilities.

The Globetrotter a comfortable room with a hint of the wandering spirit, it has a firm double bed, an ensuite bathroom, and tea and coffee making facilities. Also available as a single for $115.

Cottages - are individually decorated in rich colours, and are a superb compliment to the style of the homestead - itself built in 1924. Each has a kitchenette, lounge with TV and bed settee, and a separate bedroom with firm queen bed. Toiletries, robes and hairdryers are supplied, and Continental breakfast provisions can be provided for you to eat at your leisure in your cottage, or in the sun on your own little private veranda. The cottages are a great place for honeymooners, or for that longer stay where you require more privacy. For families, there is also a fold-out double bed in the lounge/kitchenette area.

The Picton and Mariner rooms have a single bed and there is an additional charge of $20 for a third guest.
