Highlights: The Hollyford Wilderness Journey includes the best features of New Zealand walking in an all- inclusive spectacular walk from the mountains to the sea, suitable for a wide range of fitness levels. The scenery is geologically spectacular and ever-changing - snow capped mountains, glaciers, rainforests, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, reefs, sand dunes and surf. The experiences are diverse - hiking, wildlife interaction, historical tales, jet boating, and a magnificent scenic flight to Milford Sound.
Day 1: Your walking on New Zealand's Hollyford Track starts with a drive through the majestic Eglington Valley to the start of the track in the Hollyford Valley. Follow the track along the Hollyford River, through native beech forest and beside tumbling waterfalls to Pyke River Lodge. 5 - 7 hours hiking.
Day 2: Begin with a short walk to Lake Alabaster then take a jetboat ride down the Hollyford River and across Lake McKerrow. Walk through ancient podocarp forest before arriving at Martins Bay Lodge. 4 - 5 hours hiking.
Day 3: Visit the fur seal colony at Long Reef on the wild West Coast. You may also see the rare Fiordland Crested Penguin. Travel by jet boat then explore the seven-kilometre Martins Bay Beach sand-dunes and lagoon. Enjoy a scenic flight to Milford Sound, then take the bus back to Te Anau or Queenstown.
