Highlights: Daily mountain walking in seven of the South Island's magnificent National Parks. An ambitious itinerary combining real walking, comfortable accommodation, and good food. It is a great trip with enough time to absorb the range of outdoor landscapes.

Day 1: Arrive Nelson at the top of the South Island.
Day 2: Nelson is a great place, with street cafes, attractive parks and gardens, a cathedral and a fine beach.
Days 3 & 4. BEACHES: The Abel Tasman Coastal Track
Days 5 & 6 Nelson Lakes
Day 7: WEST COAST: The road down the Buller River to the ‘West Coast’
Day 8: WEST COAST: Walking
Day 9: Down the West Coast to Franz Josef or Fox Glacier
Day 10: Glacier Country exploring
Day 11: Over Haast Pass to Wanaka
Day 12: Wanaka to Lake Te Anau
Day 13: Te Anau and the Kepler Track
Day 14: Milford Sound and staying onboard a boat in the Sound
Day 15: Milford Sound and back to Queenstown
Day 16: Queenstown and walk up Ben Lomond (1748m)
Day 17: To Mt Cook (Aoraki - the cloud piercer)
Day 18: Explore Mt Cook National Park
Day 19: On the way to Christchurch via Raikaia River
