Highlights: This is the complete experience! Explore both islands as you weave your way through this magnificent country. Maximise your time in the wilderness yet still marvel at the iconic destinations. Enjoy true wilderness campsites followed by comfortable eco lodges. A range of activities including white water rafting, sea kayaking, glacier walking and mountain biking complement the hikes superbly and keep this tour as diverse and exciting as the landscapes we explore!

Day 1: Auckland to the Coromandel
Drive through to the Coromandel and explore a Kauri forest before an optional sea kayak.

Day 2: Coromandel – Rotorua
Walking and exploring before a chance to go white water rafting on the Kaituna River. Later in the day explore an incredible thermal area near Rotorua.

Day 3: Rotorua – Whirinaki
The beginning of a two day hike in the Whirinaki forest Park.

Day 4: Whirinaki – Tongariro
Second day of the hike. This remote wilderness is completely off the tourist trail. End up in a lodge near Tongariro National Park.

Day 5: Tongariro
The beginning of a two day hike in Tongariro National Park.

Day 6: Tongariro
We hike up through a moon-like valley of contorted lava flows and ash fields before climbing up a steep section to the Emerald Lakes. Cross over the Volcanic Plateau before heading out to an alpine village.

Day 7: Tongariro – Wellington
Morning drive to Wellington with the afternoon to explore this stylish city.

Day 8: Wellington – Abel Tasman
Cross over between the islands and travel on to the Abel Tasman National Park.

Day 9: Abel Tasman – Nelson Lakes
Spend the morning exploring by foot and sea kayak the bays and coast of Abel Tasman National Park. In the evening drive to St Arnaud village, situated on the shores of Lake Rotoiti.

Day 10: Nelson Lakes – Hanmer Springs
Day Hike to Robert Ridge where the expansive views of mountains and lakes are the reward for the climb. Soak in the Hot Pools in the evening.

Day 11: Hanmer Springs – Flock Hill
Optional Mountian biking before heading across the Canterbury Plains to a High Country Farm.

Day 12: Flock Hill – Hokitika
A morning Hike before crossing over the Southern Alps. We spend the night in the coastal town of Hokitika.

Day 13: Hokitika – Haast
Drive down to Franz Josef Glacier where hiking on the glacier is an option. Drive further South to the village of Haast.

Day 14: Haast – Aspiring Hut
Visit Wanaka before heading into Mt Aspiring National park.

Day 15: Aspiring Hut – Queenstown
Breakfast in this majestic mountain setting, before a hike up a side valley to view the Rob Roy Glacier. Into Queenstown in late afternoon.

Day 16: Queenstown (optional Milford day trip)
Free day in Queenstown or an optional day trip to Milford Sound.

Day 17: Queenstown or Ben Lomond hike
Another free day to take in the adventures of Queenstown or take a hike up Ben Lomond.

Day 18: Queenstown – Aoraki/Mt Cook
Through the Mackenzie country to Mt Cook. Hike in the spectacular area.

Day 19: Mt Cook – Peel Forest
Raft the Rangitata River and stay in a near by eco-lodge.

Day 20: Peel Forest – Christchurch
Hike in at Mt Somers before the journey back to Christchurch and the end of an amazing adventure.
