Highlights: This New Zealand bicycle tour offers mountain bikers a challenging cycling adventure through the scenic wonderland of the South Island. Your bicycle tour takes in the sweeping pastoral landscapes and sparkling lakes of New Zealand's Mackenzie country and the steep alpine passes and breathtaking mountain views of Central Otago. A support vehicle carries your luggage and allows you to hitch a ride if required.
Day 1: Be picked up from the airport and taken on a tour of Christchurch. No biking
Day 2: Your New Zealand bicycle tour starts in the Port Hills near Christchurch. Having enjoyed the challenging tracks and wonderful views, you'll then be taken across the Canterbury Plains to the lower peaks of the impressive Southern Alps. Cycle on a gravel road to Ryton Station. 45 km biking
Day 3: Bike through the high country near Lake Coleridge with spectacular views of mountains and valleys. 41 km biking
Day 4: Jet boat up the Rakaia River then cycle around the Mt. Hutt Range and drive to Omarama. 45 km biking
Day 5: Round trip following an old goldmining track over the range to St Bathans 45 km biking
Day 6: Cycle through Shortland Station to Danseys Pass. 34 km biking
Day 7: Ride through Naseby Forest and along an old railway line to Clyde. 85 km biking
Day 8: Follow the mighty Clutha River then get spectacular views ascending the Bannockburn Range on your way to Queenstown. 45 km biking
