Highlights: The Larapinta is one of the best walks in Australia. On the high ridge lines of the West MacDonnell Range we gain a rare perspective of the vast flood plains and rocky outcrops that form this ancient land. We walk between eight and sixteen kms each day, but only carry a day pack.
The trail also visits the impressive Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm.

Day 1: Join Alice Springs, trek from the Telegraph Station to Wallaby Gap. (14kms)

Day 2: To Simpsons Gap (10 kms) plus Standley Chasm loop walk
(4 kms)

Day 3: Ellery Creek to Serpentine Gorge (14kms)

Day 4: Serpentine Gorge to Serpentine Bush Camp (15kms)

Day 5: To Ochre Pits (7 kms) plus Ormiston Gorge to Finke River Camp (11kms)

Day 6: Climb Mount Sonder (16 kms)

Day 7: Ormiston Pound Walk (8kms), return to Alice springs where trip concludes.
