Kowhai Horse Trek

While staying in Christchurch, spend a full day on a farm. You can be picked up from your accommodation in Christchurch or Oxford at around 9:00am. You will be taken to the farm where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and meet your riding instructor for the day. You can then help with grooming and saddling your horse followed by a 11/2 hour riding lesson. Enjoy eating lunch with the family in the homestead. After lunch, take in the views of the Canterbury Plains as you go on a scenic farm trek.

After your ride, you are welcome to tea or coffee before departing back to your Christchurch or Oxford accommodation around 5:30pm.

Transfers:
Transfers are included from central Christchurch, Darfield, Rangiora and Methven.
Transfers can be arranged (at extra cost) from Sumner, Lyttelton and Ashburton.

Self Drive Option:
If you are travelling with your own campervan or car, then make your way to the farm and pack your own lunch (or take the 10 minute drive to Oxford township and enjoy a cafe meal), and take advantage of the self-drive option. Enjoy the same morning and afternoon activities on the farm as listed above.

Treks are available for people of all abilities.

Directions:
Head North on the Northern Motorway.
Follow signs to Oxford (approx 40 minutes drive)
Go straight through Oxford
After Oxford go over the Eyre River bridge, then take the first road right. (Woodstock Rd)
Go around 8km, turn right at 'Kowhai' sign.
Take the first road left Island Rd Kowhai is at the end of this road.


Booking Conditions:
  • Kowhai reserve the right to cancel treks on days where circumstances beyond our control would affect the safety of horses and riders.
  • Failure to arrive within 30 minutes of the trek departure time or cancellation with less than 24 hours notice results in the loss of the booking fee.

  • This tour is run in conjunction with another operator.
